Assassin's Creed Unity - PlayStation 4

Assassin's Creed Unity for PS4

I'm a big fan of the Assassin's Creed series and enjoyed playing all of them. I would stay up late into the night playing these games without realizing that 6 hours had gone by. I even liked Assassin's Creed 3 which didn't get very good reviews. Unity is the first game in the series that I haven't enjoyed. I just finished Sequence 5 and would have thought that I would have gotten into it by now but I'm not.

There's nothing specifically wrong with the game. The graphics are excellent. But the mechanics feel worse than in earlier games. Ano gets stuck on walls longer and more often than in earlier games for example. The backward eject off walls doesn't seem to work. You have to complete sequence 5 before you can buy the double air assassination move. You can't move bodies or whistle from hiding spots to attract enemies like you could in earlier games. Moving the cursor around on the map is infuriating because it's always auto locking on everything.

The plot hasn't been great so far. [The following is revealed very early in the game so I don't think it's a spoiler] Thus far the plot is based on Arno wanting to avenge the death of the man who adopted him at a young age. The man was a templar, but for some reason Arno seeks to avenge him by becoming an assassin and killing a bunch of templars. Granted Arno's real father was as assassin who was killed by a templar in the Assassin's Creed Rogue game, but Arno appeared to be around 6 years old when that happened and didn't know his father was an assassin. Like I said, the whole plot is hard to get into.

The game is very cheap now so I don't regret buying it at a discount. And I'll probably finish the core story. But I can't recommend this game to anyone.

Price: $15.35
